Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a holistic system of health that has been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness for more than 3000 years. TCM uses a combination of Acupuncture, Tuina Massage, Qi Gong / Tai Chi and Herbal Medicine.

It is based on an observation of nature that is expressed by the principles of yin and yang - complementary forces that embody every facet of our existence, where yin is moistening, cooling, receding and emptying, and yang is drying, warming, growing and filling.  This can be seen in the movements of the tides, the moon, the day, the seasons, and us.

When yin and yang become imbalanced in the body, disease arises.  Imbalances occur through five main ways:  external environmental forces, internal emotional states, lifestyle, diet, and genetics.  The types of diseases that TCM can treat is remarkably extensive - people are often surprised it can help with more than just pain.

The imbalances that cause disease to manifest impairs the optimal functioning of the body.  Through using a combination of Acupuncture, Tuina Massage, Qi Gong / Tai Chi and Herbal Medicine, TCM stimulates the body's own natural healing mechanisms to return the body to a state of harmonious health.

Being holistic, all four modalities of TCM are interdependant and intertwined, and they all evolved in conjunction with each other, each influencing the others with the new healing revelations that were realised.

They all work primarily on the understanding of the energetic channel system that permeates our bodies and their relationship to our internal organs, with each modality stimulating and facilitating enhancements in the body in their respective ways.
